Ashley
I have been a sports enthusiast and exercise fanatic since childhood. As a teenager, I studied Tae Kwon Do to focus my mind and strengthen my body. In college, I stayed on the fitness track by heading to the gym almost daily to get that work-out high.
In 2003, I moved to New York City and soon joined Team in Training to prepare for the San Francisco Marathon. The good news is I ran a marathon! Unfortunately, I tore ligaments in my knee during training and was not able to work out for 6 months. It was torturous! This experience forced me to learn how to heal myself through a mix of different fitness techniques – aerobics, strength training, mixed martial arts (MMA) and yoga. While it was difficult having to deal with my injury after the marathon – including arthroscopic knee surgery twice in four years – having that downtime made me aware of how important fitness and health is in my life. I continue to work out daily and have found that sharing my combined passion for exercise and martial arts is my calling in life. I have been training in Muay Thai ever since.
I started Kick Ash Fitness in 2006 with just a small class in the back of a restaurant in New York City and after being featured in Time Out New York everything just took off. I currently teach group classes four times a week while seeing private clients throughout the day and have big plans to grow even bigger with children’s programs, mommy and me classes and much more.
I now reside in Los Angeles where I currently teach in the Hollywood and Beverly Hills areas.
